Pirna-Sonnenstein Memorial: New media station and translated biographical portraits
21.01.19

By adding a new media station to the permanent exhibition and translating biographical portraits, the memorial site in Pirna-Sonnenstein (Saxony, Germany) opens up to international visitors.
Since December 2018 the memorial offers on tablets the detailed history of the National Socialist killing centre in English and Czech translation. Furthermore, the new media station includes audio reports in four languages (German, English, Czech and Polish).
For the first time, several biographical portraits of victims of the “euthanasia”-murders in Saxony are available in different languages. Heretofore, they were published in German only but since January 2019 one Czech, two English and two Polish booklets from the series “Giving the victims back their names” are available. Among them the fate of Elfriede Lohse-Wächtler, a famous artist from Dresden who was murdered in Pirna-Sonnenstein because of her mental illness. The biographical portraits can be ordered for free on the website of Saxon Memorial Foundation.
